 SCREENWRITING WORKSHOPS

Write Your First Short Film (Without Losing the Will to Live)

Everyone says they want to write a short film.
But very few people actually finish one.

This online screenwriting workshop is designed for writers who want to write their first short film.

Whether you’ve never written a screenplay before, or you’ve started three and abandoned them somewhere around page four — this course will guide you from idea to completed draft.

No mysticism.
No “just follow your muse.”
No 400-slide PowerPoint about Joseph Campbell.

Just practical, clear craft — and accountability.

If you’re even half-serious about writing a short film, don’t wait for “someday.”

What We’ll Cover

  • What actually IS a short film (and just as importantly, what is it NOT?)

  • How to find an idea that can actually sustain a short film

  • Why most short scripts collapse in the middle

  • Characters that feel alive (not just functional)

  • Structure for short films (spoiler: it’s different from features)

  • Writing visually instead of writing theatre

  • Common first-draft traps — and how to avoid them

  • How to push through doubt and finish the script

By the end of the course, you’ll have a complete short screenplay draft — and the tools to rewrite it properly.

This online screenwriting workshop is a practical course for writers who want to learn how to write a short screenplay from scratch.

Who This Is For

  • First-time writers

  • Actors who are tired of waiting for “good roles”

  • Filmmakers who want to create their own material

  • Creatives who keep saying, “I’ve always meant to write something…”

No experience required. Just curiosity and a willingness to actually do the work.

How It Works

Workshops are delivered entirely online, making them accessible internationally.

Sessions will run as a small-group course over several weeks, allowing:

  • Live teaching

  • Discussion

  • Guided exercises

  • Structured writing deadlines

  • Script feedback

Class sizes will be intentionally limited. This isn’t a webinar. You’ll be seen. (In the best way.)

Exact dates and structure will be announced once the next intake is scheduled.

About Me

Hello! I’m a working screenwriter and filmmaker based in Ireland.

I’ve written and directed multiple short films, developed projects with public funding bodies, and worked across production in roles that involve protecting and strengthening scripts on set. I ’ve sat on both sides of the table — as the writer, and as the person giving the notes.

More importantly: I know what it feels like to stare at a blank page and wonder if you’re completely delusional.

I’ve rewritten drafts that didn’t work.
I’ve received contradictory notes.
I’ve doubted ideas.
And I’ve still finished the scripts.

That’s the difference.

This workshop isn’t about theory from someone who’s never been in the trenches. It’s about practical craft from someone who is still very much in them.
